GWOAT Talk and WrestleMania Dreams: Amanda Serrano on Jake Paul, Claressa Shields, and the Lure of WWE

Boxing superstar Amanda Serrano is one of the most decorated female fighters in history, but her ambitions stretch far beyond the ropes. In a candid interview, the multiple-division world champion discussed being hailed as the GWOAT (Greatest Woman of All Time), a dream boxing match against Claressa Shields, and her unexpected aspirations in the world of WWE.

The GWOAT and Jake Paul’s Belief

Serrano’s manager, Jake Paul, has been vocal in proclaiming her the GWOAT, often using the label in his rivalry with Claressa Shields. According to Serrano, Paul’s praise is genuine.

“I think that he really believes that and that he really thinks that,” Serrano said. “He’s told me multiple times that I am the GWOAT.”

Serrano points to her own record as proof of her dominance: “I have done things that not a lot of women are doing — I’ve had 41 fights. 30 by knockout. I have the power. I possess knockout power.” She firmly believes in her own standing, concluding, “I believe I’m the GWAOT, he believes I’m the GWOAT; you just have to believe in yourself and you do the best you can.”

Shields Showdown: Boxing vs. MMA

The fantasy match-up between Serrano and Claressa Shields is constantly discussed by fans. While Serrano has immense respect for Shields, she doesn’t believe a fight is realistic due to their size difference.

“Claressa Shields is a big girl so I don’t think that would ever happen! [laughs]… I’m 126lbs, 5’5 ½”,” Serrano noted.

Despite the size gap, she is certain on the appropriate format for a showdown: boxing.

“I’m 100% a boxer and so is she; MMA we’re just learning so, I don’t think it would be fair for either of us to go in the cage together,” she explained. “I think boxing would be an awesome fit but I don’t think it would ever happen.”

A Boxer’s Mt. Rushmore

When asked to name her Mount Rushmore of boxing, Serrano found it nearly impossible to narrow down her list, showing love for both past and present stars.

“I love boxing and I love watching the sport of boxing but it’s so hard because there are so many different styles and different people,” she said.

She praised modern greats like Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford, but made a point to highlight her Puerto Rican heritage, naming legends such as Miguel Cotto, Felix ‘Tito’ Trinidad, and Roberto Benitez. Her appreciation for diverse skill sets is a key part of her own training philosophy.

“I just love different styles and different people and I like to put it in my training and like, think of all of them and put ‘em all together and have a great-GREAT fighter,” Serrano stated.

From the Ring to the Ropes: WWE Aspirations

Beyond boxing and MMA, Serrano has her sights set on the dramatic world of WWE. She has already taken some preliminary steps into professional wrestling training.

“I would love to! Actually I trained a little bit,” she revealed, citing her friend, former TNA star and fellow Puerto Rican Amazing Red, who runs a wrestling school.

Serrano quickly learned that the transition is physically demanding, especially while juggling her combat sports training. “It was fun, it was interesting and it’s hard just going back and forth especially with the MMA and boxing it’s just super hard and it’s so much on the body,” she said.

Her message to her trainer was clear: “Don’t forget me once I’m done with this. I’ll be ready in full force and I’m gonna come in here and I’ma take it over!

When asked about the easiest transition to WWE, Serrano believes that MMA fighters have an advantage due to the nature of their training, which helps explain the success of stars like Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar.

“I think being in MMA into WWE is a lot easier,” she confirmed.

Finally, she opened up about her WWE fandom, revealing that as a child she was “always afraid of The Undertaker!” Today, her favorites include Roman Reigns, The Rock, Seth Rollins, Pinky Liv, Sasha Banks, and Ronda Rousey.
